    Our History

Consiglio's Kitchenware, a family-run Canadian institution since 1975, was the heart of Toronto's Corso Italia. From 1975 to 2016, its aisles hummed with life as customers from near and far sought its premium Italian housewares, unique food prep tools, and even imported Italian delicacies.

    Consiglio's Toronto

The retail store sprawled across a generous 20,000 square feet over four floors, a treasure trove of kitchen essentials. Customers sought out trusted brands like Giannini, Le Creuset, All-Clad, Marcato, and Bialetti. In 2008, Consiglio's embraced the online world, rapidly expanding its reach throughout Canada and the United States. By 2016, its growing e-commerce success demanded a larger warehouse. Today, from its base in Etobicoke, Ontario at 41 Horner Ave, Consiglio's continues to fulfill kitchenware dreams for customers near and far.

Though the storefront has transformed, the Consiglio family proudly retains ownership of the original building. Now a hub for unique businesses in the vibrant Corso Italia - St. Clair West neighborhood, the property pays homage to its past with the preserved original signage and façade elements.

Consiglio's legacy extends beyond kitchenware. From 1989 to 2010, their "Great Tomato Hunt" brought the community together! Contestants vied for the title of heaviest tomato, all while raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Founded by Salvatore Consiglio in honor of his father, this beloved event saw hundreds lining up annually for a chance to win a $4500 shopping spree. The largest tomato tipped the scales at an impressive 3.365 kg!

Now in its third generation, with John and Angela Consiglio at the helm, the business proudly upholds the founding principles of quality service and competitive prices. Their commitment to the community continues – a 2018 YouTube channel showcases inspiring recipes and their vast 1500-product assortment.

Corso Italia, Toronto's heart of World Cup revelry, once roared with over half a million jubilant soccer fans during Italy's 1982 and 2006 victories. Our Italian-Canadian heritage pulses through our products, a vibrant echo of this iconic neighborhood.

In 2016, Consiglio's Kitchenware expanded into a new, larger warehouse at 41 Horner Ave in Etobicoke, Ontario, allowing us to better serve Canada and the United States. Nearly 50 years later, we remain committed to providing a unique shopping experience and sourcing only the best kitchenware from Europe and around the world.
