2015 - A Year in Review and Many Thanks to our Customers

From new products to the launch of our new blog, 2015 has been a whirlwind for us here at Consiglio’s. To reflect on our good fortune, we’ve put together a quick review of our year, along with a list of our most products of the year.

Thank you to all of our loyal customers for sharing our passion for good food and great cookware, and making our 2015 an absolute pleasure. From our families to yours - best wishes, and Happy New Year!

2015 - A Review by Season

The Spring Thaw

While to most the snow melting signifies the end of winter and the beginning of spring, for us here at Consiglio’s it means the start of grilling season - a chance to venture outdoors, fire up our grills and welcome the change of seasons with tasty barbeque in hand (and maybe even soak up some sun if we’re lucky).

This year, we were all about the Lodge Hibachi Grill - a solid, pre-seasoned cast iron charcoal grill perfectly sized for grilling on the go, picnics, or use in smaller backyard spaces. While it’s a little too hefty to take hiking, it’s got the weight, durability and quality to last for years - if not a lifetime.

Already have a charcoal grill? Pair it with the Lodge charcoal chimney starter for a fast, efficient, environmentally friendly and chemical-free charcoal starter - meaning no chemical flavours or fumes seeping into your food as it grills.

Prefer to take it up a notch and cook directly on an open fire? Throw one of Lodge’s rugged, solid-cast iron dutch ovens directly on the coals for a hearty meal that also looks (and feels) really, really cool.

Summertime

Birds chirping, grass growing and sun shining can only mean one thing - tomato canning season is underway! And, we here at Consiglio’s take our tomato canning very, very seriously.

This year, we were all about Fabio Leonardi’s tomato milling machines. Straight from Italy, Fabio Leonardi boasts an all-metal construction and self-lubricating system for the kind of quality, strength and reliability you want (and need) on your side when you get bushels-deep into your canning prep.

Ranging in size from 0.3 to 1.5hp, Fabio Leonardi’s got you covered, whether you’re processing a small-batch for home use, or milling hundreds of pounds.

Autumn - Time for Feasting and Thanks

When temperatures drop and leaves begin to fall, we here at Consiglio’s get a deep, deep yearning for hearty comfort foods. Braised meats, stews, soups, pastas, roasts - the kind of foods that sticks to your bones and warms both your body and soul.
This year, we’ve been turning to our Le Creuset and Staub enameled cast iron cookware to help us fulfil this need - and for good reason. Enameled cast iron boasts excellent heat retention, along with all of the perks of traditional cast iron cookware without the need for seasoning and careful maintenance. Equal parts gorgeous and functional, both Le Creuset and Staub are perfect for the hearty, rich foods inspired by the season.

The only question is - which do you prefer? Check out our Le Creuset vs. Staub blog post for a breakdown of the differences between the two lines.

Winter

Snow and ice can only mean one thing here at Consiglio’s - meat grinding season! Whether we are preparing small batches to have healthier, tastier additive-free ground meat for home cooked meals, or working with big game hunters, we turn to Fabio Leonardi - fast, strong and reliable, their meat grinders come in 0.3 to 1.5hp sizes, with tomato milling attachments available.

Cure your own meat at home? Consider one of our electric meat slicers to help get the perfect cut for serving.
